KAYAK* SAFETY CLASS
POA Parks & Recreation Dept., HSV Paddlers Club, Boomers Kayakers, and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary
PLEASE NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE TO LAKE BALBOA!
A basic paddle craft safety class will be conducted in Hot Springs Village at the Balboa pavilion by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1 to 3 PM on 5/10/25**. Whether you are a kayak fisherman, whitewater enthusiast, or recreational lake paddler, there will be information to improve your safety on the water.
In addition to purely safety related topics there will be some good tips to simply facilitate enjoyment of kayaking, canoeing, and/or paddleboarding.
If you have a kayak, bring it and your accessories (paddle, C.G. approved PFD, whistle, reflective signal device, and the required trash bag) to the class to have the Coast Guard representative inspect your boat and accessories. Upon meeting safety requirements, a USCG certificate and a Coast Guard safety inspection sticker will be provided.
If you would like to attend this class, please email Linda Worack at LindaWorack0258@gmail.com to register if a non-member or click here to register through the Boomers website. A count is needed to make sure there are enough handouts for all attendees.
Notes:
* The Coast Guard Auxiliary is emphasizing kayak safety, but the knowledge and practices will be applicable to canoes, paddleboards, and possibly rowboat and dinghies as well.
**In case of inclement weather, the reschedule date will be provided to all who register.
Boomers Rock is a 501(c)7 non-profit organization.
